| The Rural Health Project is an initiative aimed at facilitating improvements in health outcomes for people in non-metropolitan Australia. The links from this page lead to a series of static and interactive maps that show the location and accessibility of health services in non-metropolitan areas. This include the location of aboriginal health services, GPs, aged care services, HACC services, hospitals, pharmacies and several other types of health service. These maps aim to provide useful information for planning and policy development in non-metropolitan communities. | |

An online database that provides service information by town
This online application provides access to a database of Australian communities and their services. It allows the user to seach by State, postcode or town name or by the type of service. The search results are display using a map interface. |

Further work on Rural Communities
GISCA have developed a number of other reseach projects for the Commonwealth Department of Health that are available online. These include the Accessibility/Remotenes Index of Australia (ARIA); GP Rural Retention; and the Pharmacy Accessibility/Remoteness Index of Australia (PhARIA). |
