| As a result of reawakened interest in social indicators research GISCA hosted a workshop, bringing together data specialists from Australian Commonwealth and State agencies. The participants aimed to clarify the dimensions of inequality and disadvantage for which indicators are required, and to exchange information and technical advice about the accessibility, spatial detail and coverage and extent of the time series within their domain. The workshop represented and important step in developing a sound conceptual approach to the GIS-based research activity of socioeconomic data collected by government agencies other than the Australian Bureau of Statistics. | |
