Mapping Australia's Population

Summary
Information about the composition of Australia's population is collected every five years via a national census of population and housing. The data collected is available in tabular form for a myriad of different variables. A GIS offers the Demographer or Population Analyst a tool with the capability to visualize the spatial information in population data. The following are some examples of the capabilities of a basic GIS mapping package (ARCVIEW3) for the visualization of birthplace and migration data.
