Drivers of Contemporary and Future Housing Demand in Adelaide and Outer Adelaide

Summary
This study by GISCA seeks to understand housing demand in Greater Adelaide. It examines recent and impeding changes in housing demand and supply, identifying the drivers that shape demand. The basic drivers of household demand include economic and income growth, preferences, affordability and a range of demographic and social factors. Projections indicate much of future building activity will be redevelopment and in-fill. Owner occupation continues to dominate but the private rental sector will gain in importance. A higher proportion of future home building will likely be focused on inner regions of the study area. Copies of the study can be purchased from GISCA.
