ARIA+  Version 2 - National Data Product

Background

ARIA+ is widely accepted as Australia's most authoritative geographic measure of remoteness.

In late 2003 GISCA undertook a complete update of its widely accepted Accessibility/Remoteness Index of Australia - ARIA+.   This update uses population figures and spatial boundaries from the Australian Bureau of Statistics 2001 Census of Population and Housing.

ARIA+ scores are now available nationally as a complete data product. ARIA+ scores can be supplied for the following spatial units:

• ABS Census Collector Districts;
• ABS Statistical Local Areas;
• ABS Local Government Areas;
• ABS Postal Areas;
• ABS Statistical Sub Divisions; 
• ABS Statistical Divisions;
• Australia Post Postcode boundaries; and 
• Point Locality file of approximately 11,300 locations across Australia.

Pricing

ARIA+ data for all spatial units is available on one CD. Data for individual spatial units (eg. SLA's) can also be supplied. Custom data extractions and institutional/organistational site licencing can also be arranged by request. POA.
